Void Form

Void Form & Frost Cushion

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a versatile product with various material grade options that can be utilized to enhance your performance. Product can be CNC profiled into custom shapes. Your final product can be used to compress easily and form voids or it can be design with high compression resistance such as our GWF60 which provides 60 PSI compression resistance at 10% deformation. EPS is a closed cell product and is non-biodegradable.

Applications:

  • Structural Slabs

Other Below Grade Products:

 Solid Void Form

Great White Foam expanded polystyrene (EPS) solid void form is available in strips and sheets. Solid void form is used to protect the structure from damage due to uplift forces from frost or soil swelling. Solid void for can be used beneath grade beams, slabs, pile caps, and other applications.

Materials

Solid void form is selected for it’s compressibility. The most common material types are:

GWF 5 (Type 0) | GWF 10 (Type 1) | GWF 13 (Type 2)

High compression expanded polystyrene (EPS) strips are available and listed as sheet goods.

Frost Cushion

Frost cushion is a profiled strip or sheet of expanded polystyrene. Frost Cushion is used beneath grade beams to compensate for swell caused by frost or moisture in the soil. The profiled shape will deform under uplift forces at a lower stress than solid void form.

Materials

Great White Foam frost cushion is manufactured from GWF 10 (Type 1 insulation). Frost cushion can be custom manufactured in other insulation grades.

Collapsible Void Form

Collapsible expanded polystyrene (EPS) void form is designed to support concrete structural slabs during the pouring process. Upon construction being completed this void form can collapse under ground swell uplift forces such as frost heaving or expansive soil.

Materials

EPS Molder’s collapsible void form is manufactured using GWF 15 (Type 2 insulation).
