Geofoam

Geofoam

Geofoam is used in geotechnical applications including slope stabilization, lightweight fill and backfill for abutments or retaining walls. It is also employed for subgrade insulation under roadways and runways.

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) geofoam weighs approximately 1-2% of the weight of traditional fill materials. One truckload of expanded polystyrene geofoam can replace up twelve truckloads of traditional fill.

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) does not contain CFCs or blowing agents as compared to extruded polystyrene (XPS) geofoam products.

Dimensions

Molded expanded polystyrene (EPS) billets can be cut into manageable sizes. Molded billet sizes include:

3’ x 4’ x 14’

3’ x 4’ x 16’

3’ x 4’ x 17’

3’ x 4’ x 18’

Billet weight is important when planning your job. By splitting your billets into manageable sizes you can allow them to be handled by the site crew. The weight of material changes for each grade. Use our helpful calculator to determine your block weight.
